Nancy McGuckin

My goal is to create functional art for everyday use.  Each piece is individually constructed and therefore unique in form, surface design, and finishing.  I search through history, archeology, even celestial imagination—for inspiration.  Once I have sketched the form, I decide whether to use the wheel or hand-building or both to construct the shape. I am wildly experimental with surface treatments—looking for beauty as well as a narrative of the imaginative process.  

The objects that you see and touch while going through your day subtly impact your sense of calm, ease, and harmony. The things surrounding you are a reflection of you yourself, and they should be unique and meaningful.
