Jack Sierad

    Jack Sierad Bio

My name is Jack Sierad I am a Phd. out of UCLA who has been doing seagrass for the past 17 years. For those who do not know what  Seaglass is, for hundreds of years we have throw all our glass bottles into the ocean, this glass is churned by the sea for many years forming beautiful gems.  Seaglass is one of the few things man makes and nature creates.  Almost everything else nature creates and man makes.  I take these gems and create very unique mosaic pictures made from these jewels. I am one of th few people on the planet doing this and the only one to have created 335 one of a kind pictures.

Pictures may be hung on the wall or in a window letting the sun shine through them as they can be viewed form either side.  No piece of seaglass is cut or shaved, it is use as it was found on the ocean floor.  A picture takes about  3 weeks in the making and about 1 month of collecting utilizing anywhere from 2,500 to 5,000 pieces.  24" x 36"and 18 x 24. What is in on picture is what the average person collects in a lifetime. Lastly I make beautifully designed jewelry from these gems.  All my work may be seen on my website www.jacksseaglassart.com.  .   Currently I have 4 of my works on display at the Channel islands Maritime Museum and 2 on display at Chabad of Oxnard (a house of worship).
